Last Minute Prep For Your Headshot

You need a new headshot—you searched online—found the perfect photographers, booked your session. Your hair looks fantastic, clothing is good—you are ready to go. But wait—is there anything last minute you might want to consider?

Here are a few things you might want to consider before walking out the door.

Extra Item of Clothing or Accessory

You think you got the right look for your headshot but maybe you are considering another article of clothing or accessory—that piece of jewelry? That scarf or jacket? Just grab it and bring it—you never know it just might be what you need to make the portrait fantastic. If you have a hobby like guitar or play a sport, bring it—in the Standard and Executive packages you have plenty of poses and who knows what might look cool in your photo.

Makeup & Comb

Ladies—please remember to bring your makeup. Unless you have gone to a makeup artist prior (and we have a list of recommendations hereon our FAQ page) bring the basics like face powder or lip gloss. Men—bring whatever you need to look great. We offer a basic translucent foundation powder if you need it. Also please bring your comb or brush—it gets windy in Colorado so between the car and the studio you never know if your hair will stay in place. In fact it’s pretty much a guarantee it won’t. We do have some disposable combs if you need them but bringing your own often is easier.

Your Bag of Clothes

Yep—plenty of people are in such a hurry they walk out of the house without the very clothes and accessories that they meant to bring to the session. Men: do you have the ties and jackets you want? Women—your favorite blouse, scarf or jacket? Please double check you have everything you want to bring.

Traffic

Let’s face it some times of the year tend to be nothing but construction every which way you turn so allow plenty of time to get here for your session—here is a map that shows projects around the city. And we even have a block of our street (Sierra Madre) that is closed for utilities work so you’ll want to follow the signs around that block to get to the studio.

Umbrella

During our monsoon season you never know whether that afternoon storm is going to pop up on your way or not. Don’t chance it and come prepared—don’t go to all that work to fix your hair and clothing only to get drenched by a rainstorm.

Following these steps can help you be relaxed and prepared for your headshot session.
