According to a recent nationwide survey conducted by Professional Photographers of America 67% of respondents store photos solely on their computer or phone. However just in 2014 there were 4.5 million lost or stolen phones and only 33% from survey say they regularly backup their phone data. There are many reasons not to leave important photos on computer or handheld devices without backing up or printing:
tech mishaps
accidentally deleting
computer crashes
drink spill/damage
power surge
lost memory cards, usb drives or DVDs
And even with backing up you run into online storage issues including costly subscriptions, hardware or wifi access.
Tangible History Disappears
Future generations will have difficulty knowing us because there won’t be any photographic history. According to this survey:
53% haven’t printed a photo in 12+ months
24% don’t remember the last time they printed
70% don’t have any photo albums
42%don’t print at all
How can you preserve your families memories for generations to come?
Seek out a professional photographer for those milestones moments: new baby, graduation, wedding-and at least pone family portrait every 5 or 6 years.
Make sure you order high quality prints that stand the test of time on professional grade photographic paper for the images you have taken with your digital camera or phone.
Buy Albums & Frames when you see them on sale and fill them up with prints. Yes prints—these don’t get deleted easily and don’t have cloud storage problems. Best of all you can share them with your family here and now as well as preserve for the next generation.
Devote specific walls or book shelves in your home to display photos. Art of your family should be proudly displayed in your home. Even if “family” is your dog or cat.
Print and preserve your family photos lest we forget how meaningful our emotions, families and legacies are.
